The Rev C. Arthur Shultz, Pastor Emeritus

The families in the Family Promise program will be with us again from August 14th through the 21st. We’re already beginning to make plans and will be posting schedule soon for members of Grace to volunteer your time to be with our guest.
Since three of the original families are now on there own, we look forward to having new people to help. It’s a great feeling to know we are doing something positive against homelessness and that it is so well supported by all of you. Thank you for you continued involvement and prayers.
Please feel free to contact me for more information.

WHAT WE DO AT GRACE |
Grace Lutheran members are involved in many social action opportunities to help our fellowmen and women in the community. Some of these opportunities are as follows:
- Unload and help distribute food and clothes at Cordova Food Locker on the first Friday of every month.
- Help serve food at Loaves and Fishes on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
- In conjunction with other churches in the area, provide food and help serve an evening meal to the homeless and low income families at Neighborhood Meals on the last Friday of every month.
- Serve in a network of local churches to help meet needs of the community.
- Provide clothing and toys to homeless and low income families at Christmas.
Churches promote health by creating community, sustaining hope and giving meaning and purpose to life. Believers know that faith will sustain and give wholeness to life even when living with illness or facing death. The Health Ministry Team of Grace Lutheran is working to raise awareness that the Church is a healing place. We see worship, prayer, confession, and communion interrelated with community and daily support for each other in both health and faith issues.
For this purpose we offer the following ministries:
- A Healing Station Ministry each Sunday after Communion.
- Eucharistic Ministers who visit and bring communion to shut-ins.
- Prayer Vigils during Lent.
- Soup Suppers followed by Lenten Worship during Lent.
- Pastoral Partners who shepherd a group of parishioners.
- Lunch Bunch, a Potluck Luncheon with fellowship and often a program, each third Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m.
- Community Blood Drives six times a year. Several Rancho Cordova churches cooperate in this effort to provide a place for the Bloodmobile to operate. Blood Drives are promoted in each of the churches and the local Grapevine.
- A library of several notebooks about Special Diets and current health issues to loan to any interested person.
